Making of The Hive

Who are Hmong people?

A sub-group of the Miao people, they live mainly in Southern China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar. After 1975, many Hmong people moved to America, France and a few other counties, seeking refuge from years of conflict and persecution.

In the Mù Cang Chải district, the Hmong ethnic minority group make up 90 percent of the population at around 55,000 people. Living in the isolated Hoang Lien Son mountain range, they still continue to live a self-sufficient life, but have had to adapt to the increasingly changing environment that surrounds them.
